DAY 17 - Sea Day

Sunday January 14, 2024

This unexpected Sea Day was a nice relief, although a bit wavy and wobbly on the ship due to the surrounding bad weather.  But we managed to, again, catch up on life on the cruise ship.

Our surprise that day was the announcement that the chef had purchased several items at the local fish market in The Maldives the day before, and that they were preparing sashimi and "steak" cuts for the dinner tonight in the buffet.

I am not sure how many sushi fans are out there....but this was both beautifully prepared and very tasty!!

All of the chefs and soux-chefs were up at the buffets taking pictures.
We later found out that they brought back 7-8 of these guys!
Normally a cruise ship has to comply with all kinds of regulations for the proteins they serve.  But to qualify for the proper guidelines in this instance, they froze the fish for 24 hours, thawed it, and cut it for the dinner the next evening.  YUM!!

We had room service that night plus I went up early to pick up some sashimi. I  ended up with three plates....Then two piece of the grilled rare tuna steak. Leslie is not a fan of the raw fish - so she had to "settle" for lobster pad thai!
