DAY TEN - Mumbai, India  (Part two - evening)

January 7, 2024

In knowing our itinerary well in advance, we took the opportunity, rather than to stay in the ship, to reserve a hotel room and have dinner and see the local sites on foot.

After returning to the ship to grab a change of clothes, we walked through unbelievable foot and road traffic about a mile to the Taj Palace Hotel (which was right next to the Gateway to India that we showed earlier).  The buses and motor cycles often used the already minimal shoulder and sidewalks to get through traffic with horns constantly beeping.  I was almost taken out by a bus mirror as it zoomed past!

But arrival to the hotel changed the whole feeling of busyness and loudness with a welcome peace and quiet.  Luckily our 7:30 request for a reservation at the fusion Indian food restaurant could not be made until 9:45 that night (which we barely made!)

We were asked to wait in the executive lounge...after receiving the traditional blessing of good health.....and were treated to drinks and snacks.

Now I remember making a reservation for a nice room.....but as we were escorted upstairs to an "upgraded" room...we were blown away!

After "exploring" our room for the night....and feeling like Prince William and Kate...we enjoyed a bottle of wine, took a quick shower washing of the sweat and grime from our walk over, and headed to dinner.
