DAY 40 - Nha Trang, Vietnam

February 6, 2024

Today we enjoyed a relaxing Pedicab ride (electric bikes now) through the streets of the beach resort town Nha Trang.  Very popular with the Russians, the beach was huge.  But we found out that the Vietnamese are after lighter skin, not darker (as this meant they were outdoor workers) so only tourists hit the beach in the sunny hours.  The locals went at 5am and 6pm for only an hour or two! The locals wear masks and hoods while on their scooters and have skin creams that lighten their skin instead of making it darker or natural.  So we enjoyed a fun ride through town and along the beach.

At the end  of the trip we stopped at the local market for a quick trip around.

The beach view was beautiful from the ship...and as we left in the evening, the lights of an island across the way lit up.  Kind of an amusement park/visitors destination accessible via cable car with a nice hotel there too. Very pretty - and definitely not what we had pictured as a typical scene from Vietnam!
