DAY 62  -  Kaohsiung, Taiwan, China

February 28, 2024

Not exactly a household name, Kaohsiung is the sixth largest port in the world -  famous for its ship salvaging and ship building businesses.  Evidently during World War II, as the Japanese were retreating, they sank about 150 of their own ships so that the enemy could not use the port.  After the war, the ships had to be cut apart and removed from the water...thus a new industry was born.

Our morning tour this day was a visit to a park and a temple and a park and a temple. A fun morning...and a nice sunny day to get out for a short visit.

Life lessons are taught as you walk inside these animals....the dragon and the tiger...such as...

If you talk too much in life, in the afterlife the devil will cut out your tongue.

So instead....respect your elders....

Worship your gods.....

Or this guy is going to get you!

Glad to be out of there!!

We didn't go inside this one....

Next we visited a Confucius Temple - really a school for his teachings.

The city by the port is actually quite big...with some very unique architecture.
