DAY 73 and 74  Jeju and Busan, Korea

March 10 and 11, 2024

Our excursion on Sunday in Jeju was cancelled.  So we hopped on the Oceania cruise shuttle to downtown and went shopping.  And bought another extra suitcase for souvenirs!  And on to Busan after a nice quiet day of rest.

Busan is Korea's second largest city, about the size of Chicago.  It just seems so much bigger with the waterfront dividing the city into a few distinct areas with lots of bridges connecting everything.

We normally walk past the greeters that we see at many ports - enjoying them from a distance - but today Leslie could not resist!

Today on our first stop of the city tour, we visited a Buddhist temple up the side of a mountain and into the woods.  With three gates to pass through, it was a fun, steep, uphill walk to the main temple.

Next was a visit to the fish market on the waterfront.

And then, after such an appetizing display in the fish market, we went to a street market called BIFF street and soon John sat down for some street food - which up until now we had avoided - and had his first taste of kimchi - a spicy Korean meal of fish broth and vegetables with a side of noodles and more hot fish broth to drink.  It was very tasty....but evidently stayed on his breath for several days!

And for Leslie - chicken on a stick!

And for dessert...a honey filled pastry that tasted a lot like a Krispy Kreme donut!
